Hello!
My name is Jess.
I am a stylist, maker, and all-around costumer based in Chicago.
I fell in love with costume at a very young age. I began performing with a traditional Thai dance troupe when I was 5 years old and was almost instantly fascinated by the detail and textures of the costumes we wore. I loved watching the dance teachers and older dancers sew each other into the costumes and probably bothered the teachers too much with questions about how each garment was draped and pleated.
That passion for costume followed me all the way to higher education. I received a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Costume and minored in Anthropology at San Francisco State University in 2020. I enjoyed learning about costuming so much; I also got a master’s degree in Historical Costuming, where I focused on technical skills like garment construction, from Arts University Bournemouth in 2023.
After school, I have been fortunate to enter the costume industry as a Trainee in the UK and as a PA in America. The two things I love most about the industry, and costuming as a whole, are that there are always new skills to learn and a near-infinite number of people to be inspired by and learn from.
I am available for PA, overhire, and full-time work!
